The series ‘ Underneath the surface’ is reflecting an underlaying feeling certain aspects of life invoke to Mare Roorda. Through the image she wishes to bring attention to the
experiences of the inner world which aren’t always visible to the bare eye. There is much depth to discover in oneself and the other. Much which often cannot be expressed through words but solely through truly seeing and feeling each other.

De serie Underneath the surface is een weerspiegeling van een onderliggend gevoel dat wordt opgeroepen bij Mare Roorda door bepaalde aspecten van het leven. Door middel van het beeld wil ze de aandacht vestigen op de ervaringen van de innerlijke wereld die niet altijd zichtbaar zijn voor het blote oog. Er is veel diepte te ontdekken in jezelf en de ander. Veel dat vaak niet in woorden kan worden uitgedrukt, maar alleen door elkaar werkelijk te zien en te voelen.
